The Nairobi-based firm signals a new era of accountable, Africa-led sustainability by embedding the UN Global Compact’s Ten Principles at the heart of its ESG agenda
Arielle for Africa, a pan-African sustainability firm, today announced it has joined the United Nations Global Compact — the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative — marking a defining step in its mission to advance responsible, transparent and impact-driven business across the African continent.
By joining the UN Global Compact, Arielle for Africa formally commits to aligning its strategies and operations with the Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The commitment reinforces the firm’s conviction that Africa’s economic future must be built on integrity, accountability and long-term value creation.
Central to Arielle for Africa’s 2026 agenda is the imminent launch of an independent ESG Rating — a first-of-its-kind instrument designed specifically for African markets. The rating will provide companies, investors and policymakers with a credible, context-sensitive framework for measuring environmental, social and governance performance, addressing a critical gap in African capital markets where global ESG benchmarks have historically failed to reflect local realities.
“Joining the UN Global Compact is not a symbolic gesture, it is a declaration of intent. Africa is not waiting to be rated by standards built for other markets and other realities. Arielle for Africa is building the tools that African businesses, investors and communities actually need. Our ESG Rating, launching in 2026, is the centrepiece of that ambition: a rigorous, Africa-designed instrument that holds companies to account while recognising the unique context of operating and growing on this continent. We are proud to anchor that work in the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, because we believe that principled business is the only business that lasts.”
— Edith Njage, Chief Executive Officer, Arielle for Africa
The UN Global Compact, launched in 2000, unites more than 25,000 companies across over 100 countries around a shared commitment to responsible business. As a full participant, Arielle for Africa will report annually on its progress through a Communication on Progress (CoP), publicly disclosing the steps it is taking to uphold the Ten Principles across its operations and client engagements.
Arielle for Africa invites investors, partners, corporate clients and peers across the continent to engage with its sustainability journey. The firm’s participant profile is available on the UN Global Compact website at unglobalcompact.org.
